2006 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Wagon

We’ve got a special one today. Only about 64 of these exist in the US. One of the meanest family haulers around, the Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG Wagon.

This one is coming out of Ohio, with 60,000 miles, and listed at $40,000. Some quick research on Bring a Trailer shows that the price may be a little bit on the high side. Maybe there’s some wiggle room.

If you’re not familiar, these brought a 5.4L V8, supercharged engine. In a freaking wagon. You get all of this engine, making ~470 hp, and with a 0-6 time at 4.8 seconds.

The sound this thing makes is unreal, and the fact that it’s coming out of the wagon is the cherry on top. Get ready to dust any of the Mustang 5.0’s and most Challengers, while also having a trunk full of soccer gear.

It’s also a one owner, southern garaged car. Not sure how it made its way up to Ohio, but the pictures actually don’t show it plated, so it is possible it’s never been driven up there.

Without rust concerns, and with presumably good maintenance records, you should definitely get a lot of run if you manage to pick this up.

The wagon profile and view really can’t be beaten. Sure the tail lights are a bit dated, and the E63s wagons can be had, but probably for close to double the price. (For newer ones anyway).

The black on black look keeps this exterior looking modern enough to blend in and stand out at the same, all depending on how you want to drive it. Hopefully ripping highway pulls past a Camaro somewhere.

The interior looks to be in about perfect condition, and I believe this spec does have active bolstering. There’s a “dynamic” button on the right of the bottom seat controls.

As is to be expected, there is a dated look with the wood trim pieces, harking back to Lexuses from this same time. Having had several, I’m actually kind of fond of this.

You buy this car for the engine in a wagon though, not to feel like you’re in a new Benz with fragrance being sprayed at you and purple ambient lights.

Here’s the link to the listing. It does lack detail, so would definitely need to reach out to the seller to find out more about its story. Happy hunting!
